KZN BMX & KZN Cycling would like to give special thanks to KZN Sports & Recreation for their support in assisting the development of the first combined BMX supercross and challenge class track on the continent.

This track will go along way in ensuring that not only will BMX athletes in KZN have a world class track to train on, but so will the Elite riders in the rest of the country have a place to prepare themselves for international events. Up to now, our athletes have had to venture abroad at much expense to be able to train & compete  in an environment of world class standard. Now we will be able to have more athletes prepare themselves at less expense before taking the critical step of heading overseas for participation in world cup and Olympic events.

The track construction is scheduled to start in June/July with completion scheduled for the end of August.

Elite Trax, who have the contract to build the Supercross World Cup tracks through until 2016 will be designing and certifying our track for UCI World Cup events. KZN BMX will work with Elite Trax to partially build the track, with members of Elite Trax coming through to finish it off, ensuring the highest standards possible.

The track will be designed to ensure a combination of both racing at the highest level, whilst still lending itself to being a track suitable for training athletes progressively.

It is without a doubt that the facility will become a stop on the UCI World Supercross Series once built, allowing South African riders a chance to compete at the highest level whist also earning valuable UCI points.
